Digital television not all wonderful

Since the 1950s, Springfield area residents with rooftop TV antennas enjoyed viewing analog VHF TV stations as far away as Burlington, Boston and Maine. But with the switch to digital only broadcasting, all that has changed. These stations are now required to transmit their DTV signals within the UHF broadcast band, the range of which is limited by the curvature of the earth, about 70 miles. Most who rely on an antenna for TV reception can only pick up the two nearest stations now.
