Park Street pupils' visits prepare for transition

Park Street School pupils might have been dressed as ghosts and ghouls, but Friday's activities were designed to make their transition next year a little less scary.

Sales at Springfield Auto Mart, a Buick, GMC dealer, is normally 70 percent new vehicles and 30 percent used. In the aftermath of the federal Cash for Clunkers program, used car sales have declined to 20 percent of total sales.

School Resource Officer plan voted down

The plan to hire a full time police officer assigned to local schools came to an abrupt end Monday night when it failed to recieve enough votes from the five member School Board.

North School, East School fates considered

In a surprising move at Monday night's School Board meeting, Chairman Larry Kraft accepted an offer to return all the North School property to the family that donated the land decades ago, including the school building. The Board also listened to a plea to wait on closing East school until a new home for the Gateway program can be found.

Residents find friendship through mentor program

Festival of Foods Benefit

For 16 years the Festival of Foods to benefit Habitat for Humanity has been held annually in Springfield. For $15 in advance or $20 at the door the public can attend a gathering of chefs from area restaurants as well as home chefs. The chefs prepare appetizers and desserts for guests to sample.

Broadcaster honored for fundraising work

A local radio personality will be honored for his fundraising efforts in November. Ray Kimball, general manager of WCFR radio, will receive the Alan Noyes Community Service Award during the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Awards Nov.
