The 57th Annual Springfield Penny Sale gets underway at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, in the Riverside School gym, with doors open at 6. The fun involves over 300 prizes with values from $250 down. A great number of prizes are in the $25 to $50 range.

Once again this year, the Grand Prize winner could instantly double their money. The actual Grand Prize is $5,000 in cash. But, if the person who is selected as the winner is present at the Penny Sale, they will have the opportunity to select one of twenty-five specially marked "Money Bags". If they choose the correct one, they'll double their money and win a total Grand Prize of $10,000 in cash. Grand Prize tickets are available in advance of the Penny Sale from any Springfield Rotarian.

Over 300 prizes will be displayed on the "stage" in Riverside gym and each prize costs a player one penny to play the Penny Sale game. The penny per opportunity to win has always remained the same even though the value of the prizes increases each year. You may donate as many pennies as you wish; for each dollar donation you receive 100 chances. Remember, all proceeds are donated to charity. Rotarians volunteer all work on the Penny Sale and greatly appreciate the many donations of products and services from area businesses.

The Springfield Rotary Club has raised over $450,000 since the inception of the Penny Sale. Every cent of the profit has been donated to charities and needs with the accent on youth and especially college scholarships. In recent years $6,000 a year has been awarded to Springfield High School Seniors who are going to College bringing scholarships donations resulting from the Penny Sale to over $160,000.

Over 75 organizations have been recipients of donations
