Eureka Schoolhouse Reopens For Season

This coming Memorial Day weekend the 18th century 1-room schoolhouse reopens with a new roof and chimney.
http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/e663b8701ab54b9f8a935b60d90ce4e6/VT--Old_Schoolhouse/                       # # # # 1-Room Schoolhouse Reopens For Season  •  18th Century Building Reopens With New Roof, Chimney  •  WPTZ   •  POSTED: 10:56 am EDT May 23, 2010  •  SPRINGFIELD, Vt. -- The Eureka Schoolhouse, a one-room school building erected in the late 1700s and now maintained as a historic site, opens for the season Memorial Day weekend.  •  The state-owned historic site jointly operated by the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce opens next Sunday and will be open Thursdays to Sundays until Oct. 11.  •  It's Vermont's oldest schoolhouse, and one of few surviving public buildings from the 18th century. Some parts of the building are new: The roof and chimney were repaired and the windows re-glazed and painted last fall.  •  The Eureka Schoolhouse is located on Vermont Route 11, east of Springfield.  •
