Chris Norton wrote in his report that police had received a call just before 6 a.m. on July 11 reporting that Augustinowicz had allegedly been drinking and making harassing phone calls and that he was headed in his pickup into town on Parker Hill Road. • Norton said he positioned his cruiser in the church parking lot at the intersection with South Street so he could keep an eye on Parker Hill Road and a few minutes later “observed a vehicle matching the description and registration pull into the parking lot in front of me and stop.” • When Augustinowicz got out and walked around the truck, Norton walked up to him and recalled that he immediately “could smell the very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.” • Norton said Augustinowicz told him he had been in Rockingham recovering the truck since it had been stolen from him earlier. Norton reported that Augustinowicz then blew a 0.145 percent blood alcohol level on a breath test before he was taken into custody without incident. The legal limit for driving in Vermont is 0.08. •
