Springfields White takes his shot at Bowdoin
By Tom Haley
Staff Writer
The Bowdoin College football team had a great ride with Oliver Kell at quarterback. He put his name all over the program’s record book.
Now, they must start over. Three candidates will be in camp and one of them is Springfield’s Grant White.
R.J. Shea will arrive in Brunswick, Maine, as the top guy after backing up Kell. White is one of two freshmen.
White, who helped take Springfield High to a state title in 2008, has some things going for him. He ran the no-huddle offense under Mike Hatt at Springfield and Bowdoin also operates without a huddle. White also had a year of seasoning after high school at Kimball Union Academy.
If White does get on the field, he will have the luxury of one of the nation’s top receivers. Patrick Noone is a D3football.com Preseason All-America selection.
