VFW Recognizes 3 Young Men
Recently the Veterans of Foreign Wars Robert L. Johnson Post 771 of Springfield recognized 3 young men. Thomas Kendall was the post winner for the Voice of Democracy essay contest. David Bryant III was the first place winner for the Patriot’s Pen essay contest and Patrick Clancy came in 2nd.
The Voice of Democracy essay contest is open to students in grades 9-12th, this year’s theme was “Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future”. The Patriot’s Pen essay contest is open to students in grades 6-8th, this year’s theme was “Does Patriotism Still Matter?”
Next year’s theme are for Voice of Democracy – “Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military?” and for Patriot’s Pen – “Are You Proud of Your Country”. Deadline for both programs is November 1st. For more information, contact your local Veterans of Foreign War
