Black River Produce Sponsors Centennial Ball Posted on 8/2/2013 Black River Produce owners, Mark Curran (left) and Steve Birge (right) present their donation check to Larry Kraft of Springfield Hospital. SPRINGFIELD, VT - When Springfield Hospital announced its Centennial Starlight Ball in October of last year, Black River Produce stepped forward as the event’s first sponsor – and at the highest level: Diamond. For its contribution of $10,000, Black River Produce will have a table with 10 guests and the gratitude of their local community hospital. Black River Produce has recently transformed the former Ben & Jerry’s ice cream plant in North Springfield into a meat-processing center. At this new 40,000- square-foot building, locally-raised lamb, beef, and pork is trimmed, packaged, and stored. “Springfield Hospital is so important to this area’s quality of life,” says Steve Birge of Black River Produce. “We wanted our gift to make a difference and to encourage other gifts. As we celebrate Springfield Hospital’s 100th anniversary, let’s all do what we can to ensure its next century of caring.” Black River Produce is joined, at the Diamond level, by Okemo Mountain Resort. At the Emerald level ($5,000) , sponsors are Bibens Home Center, Connecticut Valley Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, IPG Employee Benefits Specialists + Comprehensive Benefits Administrator, Springfield Pharmacy, and Vermont Telephone Company. The Centennial Starlight Ball is a black-tie gala fundraiser for Springfield Hospital. It takes place on Saturday, September 14th at the Great Hall in the former Fellows Gear Shaper Building. For information about attending or being a sponsor, please contact Larry Kraft, 885-7644, lkraft@springfieldhospital.org.
