Group facing multiple charges stemming from area burglaries By DOMENIC POLI / Reformer Staff POSTED: 09/06/2013 09:28:59 PM EDT SOUTH LONDONDERRY -- A group of Southern Vermont residents is facing a slew of charges stemming from two robberies which occurred earlier this summer. According to Vermont State Police, Shawn Holden, 35, of Chester, Todd M. Gilchrist, 40, of Springfield, and Jodi L. Crawford, 37, of Springfield, face several charges in connection with a South Londonderry home burglary on July 25. Holden and Gilchrist have also been cited in connection with another home burglary, this one Peru, on June 25. In that case, a third suspect, Kelly M. Crawford, 41, of Springfield was also cited with several crimes. It was not clear from police reports if the two Crawford women were related. According Vermont State Police Trooper Eric Vitali, Jodi Crawford was stopped in South Londonderry at approximately 4:17 a.m. on July 25 after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. Crawford was found to be under criminal suspicion in Vermont and was in possession of a large amount of copper piping. Vitali determined the piping came from the basement of a house on Winhall Station Road, near where she was stopped. An investigation revealed that Holden and Gilchrist were responsible for allegedly stealing the copper and placing it in the vehicle. According to the statement, the damage caused to the entire plumbing and heating system in the residence is estimated at between $5,000 and $10,000. Holden was already on parole for other criminal activity when he was taken into custody on Friday, Aug. 30, and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield on charges of burglary, unlawful mischief, unlawful trespass, grand larceny, making or having burglar’s tools, providing false information to a law enforcement officer and selling stolen property. Gilchrist was arrested in Springfield on Wednesday, Sept. 4, on two active warrants out of Windsor County as well as for his involvement in the burglary in South Londonderry. He was cited with burglary, unlawful mischief, unlawful trespass, grand larceny, making or having burglar’s tools and possession of stolen property. Jodi L. Crawford, 37, was released on a citation to appear in court to answer to the charges that include burglary. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, Sept. 10. One month earlier, a burglary was reported at a residence on Lover’s Lane in Peru. A chain saw, valued at more than $300, along with some gasoline and equipment for the chain saw, was taken from a shed near the residence. Investigation revealed Holden and Gilchrist were responsible for the chain saw’s theft. Kelly M. Crawford was found to be driving the vehicle the subjects were in when they were taken into custody. She was released on a citation to appear in court to answer to charges, including burglary, for her involvement. She will be arraigned on Nov. 7.

ReplyDeleteDon't be so harsh. These nice people are innocent until proven guilty. Maybe someone else put the copper in the truck. (That would be my defense)
