Springfield, Vt - Several free health education programs are being offered locally in the coming weeks, and now is the time to register.
Eating Well - A free weekly educational workshop will take place Thursdays from 1:30 - 3:00, from October 3rd through October 31st, and is designed to help participants learn to make healthy food choices.
Learning to Live Well with Diabetes - This free workshop meets weekly on Wednesdays, October 9th - October 31st, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm and offers an informative educational series about living well with diabetes. This 4-week program, offered monthly, is an opportunity for individuals newly diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes to want to learn all about the best strategies to manage it successfully. This program also serves as a great "refresher" for those that have been previously diagnosed with diabetes, but may benefit from a review. The class will cover all of the comprehensive areas of Diabetes Education, including, "What is diabetes/pre-diabetes?", introduction to and use of goal setting and action planning, nutrition, physical activity, stress management, monitoring of blood sugar, medications and managing and preventing risk of complications of diabetes. This program will be led by a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Supermarket Shopping Tour - Free educational shopping tour, October 17th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at Shaws Supermarket in Springfield, VT. Learn to shop with wellness in mind, read the labels, and make the best choices for your good health. Whether you are dieting for weight management, reducing salt intake,or simply managing a healthy lifestyle, this educational program will be of benefit to you and your family.
Tobacco Cessation Class - If you want to kick the habit, sign up for our free group workshops that meet weekly on Wednesday, 5:30 -6:30 pm, for four weeks. Participants benefit from the help of trained tobacco specialists and group interaction. This is a free program.
