Man nabbed in drug sweep sentenced September 05,2013 Rutland Herald Man sentenced after drug sweep SPRINGFIELD — The first of three dozen suspected drug dealers arrested in June’s “Operation Precision Valley” sweep was sentenced Tuesday. Joseph Morin, 30, of Springfield received a series of concurrent sentences of one to two years after pleading guilty to three felony counts of selling a narcotic and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Detectives from the Vermont Drug Task Force said that on three separate occasions in April they arranged sting operations in which a police informant bought methadone tablets or prescription Tylenol 3 pills from Morin. Speaking after the sentencing, Deputy State’s Attorney David Cahill said Morin’s sentence is likely to be relatively light compared to the other suspects because most of them are accused of selling “harder” drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine. The disorderly conduct charge stemmed from an incident in the middle of South Street on May 10. Witnesses told police that Morin and another man showed knives during a heated argument.
This article is not clear about the defendent's sentence; my read of the article doesn't tell me how much jail time in total he got and there are implications that the jail time may have been waived in favor of probation.
