Springfield Three people — including two incumbents — have filed for the two open seats on the Springfield Select Board. Incumbents Kristi Morris, the chairman of the board, and Selectman Michael Knoras have filed for a three-year seat, according to Town Clerk Barbara Courchesne. Challenging the two incumbents is George McNaughton, a local lawyer who has also served on the Springfield School Board. Courchesne said Springfield School Board member Joseph “Bill” Harbeson decided not to return his petition, leaving newcomer Edward Caron running unopposed for Harbeson’s three-year seat. Steve Karaffa, who was appointed last year to serve the unexpired term of School Board Chairman Scott Adams, has filed for the one year remaining on Adams’ original term.
Why are there so few candidates in Springfield? Is there a candidate advocating change out there at all?
ReplyDeleteI get the impression that 90% of voters are of the sentiments expressed on this blog. Who'd want to change anything, given that public?
ReplyDeleteYes, these silly socialists who keep proposing projects to try and lift Springfield out of its reality show ambience. They have such disgusting ideas like having the police do foot patrols, why and let those wonderful radar guns go unused? Then there are those that want to disrupt our thriving commerce in the town, with the sale of things which are legal. They need to understand that we are trying to become the next Rome, where people can come to view the ruins of prior buildings and feed on pizza while they do so. We have a wonderful two track school system one track for those leaving to go to college and elsewhere, and those destined for the finishing school up on the hill at the edge of town. And Mr. Yesman is out there stirring up enthusiasm for referendums to protect slumlords and campaigning against the budget. He is my hero, and I believe in his honor we should move the Simpsons donut statue out in front of the Police Department as a testimony to his community building.
