Cosmos stretch mark to 3-0

Springfield 10, L&G 6
SPRINGFIELD — Sarah Locke had offseason surgery on the wrist of her throwing hand. She made her first start against Leland & Gray and showed that all is well. She pitched the first five innings and struck out 11 against just one walk.
Heather Sanborn pitched the final two innings for the 3-0 Cosmos.
The Cosmos broke open a tight game with eight runs in the fourth. Megan Courchesne’s two-run single was the key hit.
“That kind of broke it open,” Springfield coach Andy Bladyka said.
Courchesne and KK Haskell had two hits apiece for the Cosmos.
Jordan Gouger had a double, triple and three RBI for the Rebels.
Elizabeth Symanski went the distance for the Rebels, striking out six, walking one and surrendering 10 hits.
“We put the ball in play more than they did. It was a tough day fielding because of the wind,” Bladyka said.
The Cosmos will try to keep their perfect mark intact on Saturday at Mill River.
