Mass. woman indicted on heroin distribution charges By Chris Garofolo | Apr 29, 2014 Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on email Share on print More Sharing Services 0 SPRINGFIELD — A Massachusetts woman was recently indicted on two federal counts of heroin distribution after she allegedly sold up to 8,000 bags of the illegal drug in Vermont over the past six months. The Vermont district office for the U.S. Attorney said Monday a federal grand jury has returned a two-count indictment charging Seanna Krasin, 22, of Holyoke, Mass., with distributing heroin in Springfield earlier this month. Last Friday, U.S. Magistrate Judge John M. Conroy entered not guilty pleas on Krasin’s behalf and she was released on conditions previously imposed by the court. If convicted on those charges, Krasin could face a maximum possible term of 20 years imprisonment. Any actual sentence, in the event of conviction, would be determined pursuant to the advisory federal sentencing guidelines and the federal statutory sentencing factors. The Vermont Drug Task Force used a confidential informant to make controlled purchases of heroin from Krasin in Springfield on April 7 and again on April 10, selling 250 bags during the first buy and 800 bags three days later, according to court documents. Police say evidence acquired during the investigation indicates Krasin sold between 6,000 and 8,000 bags of heroin to two Vermont customers between November 2013 and her arrest on April 10. An affidavit from Charles Winn, a detective trooper with the Vermont State Police’s drug task force, reports officers began investigating Krasin’s role in the distribution of heroin in Orleans County. Through the use of a confidential informant — codename “Blue” — police were able to determine Krasin was delivering several “stacks” into Vermont each week. A stack is approximately 100 baggies containing heroin sold together. “Blue advised that Seanna always comes up with large quantities of heroin and that she would not come to Vermont for an order of less than two ‘stacks,’” Winn said in his affidavit. “Blue also told me that Seanna makes other stops in Vermont to deliver narcotics and that Blue has personally seen Seanna with 12 ‘stacks’ or 1,200 bags of heroin in her possession at one time.” Police formulated a plan to have a controlled purchase of 250 bags from Krasin and coordinated with the informant to schedule a meeting in a parking lot in Springfield. The location of the lot was not specified in court records. The first purchase was made April 7, with the informant requesting an additional six to eight “stacks” within a few days at the same Springfield parking lot. A second controlled buy took place April 10 with Krasin exchanging 800 bags for $3,300 in task force funding. She was detained by police shortly after the transaction and taken to the state police barracks in Rockingham. Krasin, who is listed as having a Walnut Street address in Holyoke, told police she does not work and has been selling drugs to two customers in the state since late 2013. In a press statement, U.S. Attorney for Vermont Tristram J. Coffin emphasized the charges are merely accusations and that defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He commended the investigation by the drug task force and said his office will “continue to work with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those who feed and profit from the opiate addiction of Vermonters.” The Office of the Federal Defender is representing Krasin. Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig S. Nolan is prosecuting the case.
