  1. Is this what the police were telling kids NOT to do? Warning people of the dangers? WHY post something like this? smh

  4. She is not a kid. She is in her mid-forties.

    1. Clearly she hangs with a good group based on the names she listed,,one of which is listed on the Vt. State Sex Offender website.

    2. If she is in her mid-forties, then she should be setting a better example. The police have warned people over and over again about how dangerous this "polar plunge" idea is and she goes and video tapes her proud moment to show off? Sorry, not a very responsible adult if you ask me. AND why would this be posted here? I am very surprised that this was put here, shame on you Springfield Vermont News for your lack of judgement.

    3. Is there anything illegal about her doing this? No. Is she an adult making her own decisions? Yes. Case closed, unlike the drug problem in town the police should be concerning themselves with rather than who's taking an ice bath. If the Admin of this site ever starts withholding post just to be politically correct, then I will call that a lack of judgment. Let me know how many people went down there and jumped in the river after she did. My guess, zero.

    4. There is nothing life-threatening about a truly healthy person taking a polar plunge if done correctly. My people (the Scandinavians) have been doing it for centuries, believing it has beneficial effects on health. Modern Swedish research has proved cold-water immersion reduces muscle inflammation and pain after exercise, greatly stimulates the burning of body fat, drastically decreases levels of uric acid and increases levels of glutathione, your body's most powerful antioxidant.

I have suffered from chronic muscle soreness and fatigue since my teenage years and nothing makes me feel more alive and invigorated than a dip in icy cold water. I would do it daily if I had a fired-up overheated sauna near waters edge to run to!

    5. The fact that there have been multiple warnings lately about the dangers of these "polar plunges" is why this video should never have been posted here. If an adult doesn't have enough sense to stay out of the cold water then that's their own stupidity, but to post it on here after so much negative attention it has been getting is just sending the wrong message. smh
