WEST RUTLAND — The Golden Horde outhit Springfield 5-4, but eight West Rutland errors did not help pitcher Austin Phillips’ cause.
“Austin actually pitched pretty well,” West Rutland coach Mickey Caliguiri said.
Springfield’s Cam Blais pitched very well. He struck out seven and walked just one in going the distance.
Jeremy Avoli had a double and Dillon Notte had two hits for West Rutland.
The Horde takes a 5-10 record into today’s regular-season finale at home against Black River in the completion of a suspended game. West Rutland is leading 3-0 going into the top of the third. Game time is 1 p.m.
