RVTC Inducts 14 New Members to the National Technical Honor Society Submitted by admin on Tue, 05/20/2014 - 3:29pm SPRINGFIELD, VT -The River Valley Technical Center welcomed parents and students to the 24th annual induction to the National Technical Honor Society. Fourteen students representing five area high schools were recognized for their Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership, which are all developed through Knowledge. RVTC Assistant Director, Scott Farr commented on how proud he was of the students for excelling in areas in order to succeed. This year’s National Technical Honor Society program was dedicated to long time Guidance Counselor and former NTHS advisor, Roger McNamara, who passed away earlier this school year. Cameron Chiesa and Seth Matlofsky, who are current NTHS members, presented a plaque and an honorary membership to the NTHS to Mrs. McNamara. “Mr. Mac was known for his passion and care for students, presenting them with this great opportunity to become a part of a great organization, and doing absolutely anything that his students asked of him,” said Chiesa. In his closing statements, Mr. Farr echoed the words of Chiesa and Matlofsky saying there was an underlying reason for the recognition tonight. “This reason is represented in the man that was honored just a few minutes ago, Roger McNamara. The reason is passion; above all he was passionate about working here with us, the teachers and staff, but most of all he was passionate about having the chance help all of the students like you for many, many years. Passion will keep you moving forward in the face of many different types of challenges. Sharing your passion with the people you work with will make it easier to work together, your work will be a whole more lot more fun and rewarding, passion for your work will make all aspects of your life better.” said Mr. Farr. Member schools agree that NTHS encourages higher scholastic achievement, awards scholarships, and cultivates excellence in tomorrow’s workforce. Education is a critical and integral element that advances economies, and NTHS forges positive relationships with high schools, technical institutions and colleges to promote higher learning.
