Published May 22, 2014 in the Rutland Herald Teenager denies assault with a weapon By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A Springfield teenager who allegedly threatened to cut off his cousin’s head with a knife pleaded innocent to aggravated first-degree domestic assault with a weapon. Alexander Corbosiero, 18, was released on conditions that he not possess any drugs or weapons after his arraignment Tuesday in White River Junction criminal court. In addition to the felony charge, he denied a misdemeanor count of domestic assault. Springfield Police Officer Anthony Moriglioni wrote in an affidavit that Corbosiero’s 16-year-old cousin, who had been staying with the family, came to police attention when school officials noticed severe bruising on the boy. The school told police the boy was afraid to go back to his aunt’s home. Police interviewed the boy, who said Corbosiero routinely would insist on being “allowed” to hit him with his fists. “(The juvenile) also advised of a time when Alexander and some friends threatened to cut off his head and actually approached him with knives in hand, to the point he had to scream and kick at them in fear of being hurt,” Moriglioni wrote. “Alexander also burned (his cousin’s) hand with a cigarette,” the officer said, adding police had photographed the burn mark. Moriglioni said the boy was immediately removed from the home in January after the allegations were reported, and he was placed in a facility by the Department for Children and Families. Police interviewed Corbosiero in March about his cousin’s allegations. “He advised (the boy) was a liar,” Moriglioni wrote. “Alexander advised he had never touched (his cousin).” Asked about the cigarette burn, “Alexander advised that (the boy) probably did that himself,” the affidavit said. Corobosiero, who does not have an adult criminal record, faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted.
