Civil Air Patrol hands out free cookies, hot chocolate Dec 30, 2014 The Catamount Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol made Christmas shopping a little more fun by handing out free hot chocolate and cookies in front of Shaw's grocery store in Springfield. The Civil Air Patrol is the volunteer auxiliary of the United States Air Force tasked with three missions: search and rescue, cadet programs and aerospace education. Membership is open for cadets at age 12 years and adult members are always needed to support these missions. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. every Sunday at Squadron Headquarters adjacent to the Hartness State Airport, North Springfield. For more information call Commander Major Kathleen R.
