RVTC's business students place in DECA competitions

SPRINGFIELD — The River Valley Technical Center's Business and Financial Services students competed in the annual spring conference for the Vermont Chapter of the Distributive Educaiton Clubs of America (DECA). Tanner Shumski of Springfield High School, placed third in the Sports & Entertainment Marketing written exam; Nicole Patterson of Springfield High School, second place in the Marketing Management Role Play (Channel Management) and third place in the Marketing Management Role Play (Market Planning); Rena Lirakis, also of Springfield High School, placed second in the Accounting Applications written exam. DECA is a student-run nonprofit organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
Additionally, five Business and Financial Management students who earned their National Retail Federation (NRF) Customer Service and Sales Certification recently. This is one of the Industry Recognized Credentials (IRC) that students will earn in the business program. The recipients are: Matthew Graham of Springfield High School, Joseph Behsmann of Springfield High School, Austin Meyer of Springfield High School, Tilar Amidon of Springfield High School and Zeb Reardon of Springfield High School.
The River Valley Technical Center is now enrolling students for the fall of 2015 for the Business and Financial Management program as well as all of their technical education programs. For more information and to access their online application, visit their website at www.rvtc.org.
