SPRINGFIELD — The 7th Annual Blessing of the Bikers will be held Sunday, May 17, at Calvary Baptist Church, 156 Main St., in Springfield.
This event is hosted by Calvary Baptist Church and the River Valley Ridge Riders. All are welcome and full leathers are encouraged. An outdoor church service will begin at 9:30 a.m. with local band Green Mountain Express providing live music. At 11 a.m., the Biker Blessing will begin, including barbecue foods for sale, door prizes and a blessing by local clergy for each biker at the start of riding season.
In addition, there will be a bounce house and “Body Art by Mona.” The People’s Choice for “Best Bike” will be awarded. This year’s trophy honoree is Ira Colby, who was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield. He was an avid motorcyclist and rode until he was 89 years old. Colby went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 16, 2014. For more information, call Tom Bishop at (802) 886-2703 or Dave “Red” Green at (802) 875-2665.
