SPRINGFIELD — The weekends of Oct. 3 and Oct. 10 saw the completion of preparing and priming all the streetlight poles from the square to the community house bridge on the west side of Main Street in Springfield.
On Oct. 3, Charlie Blish and Alan Woodbury were able to complete the poles from the Community House to Claremont Savings Bank. And on Oct. 10, Lions Club members Dan Gauvreau and Debbie Ankuda joined Alan to complete the project up to the square.
Earlier this summer, volunteers from the Assembly of God Church helped paint the poles on the east side of the street. Springfield on the Move thanks all the volunteers who came together to complete this phase of the project.
The organization also wants to thank Sherwin Williams for teaming up with Springfield on the Move for their expert help and generous discounts on their products.
Springfield on the Move will resume working to finish all of Main Street next spring when the weather gets warmer.
The group is seeking volunteers to help finish this project next spring. Anyone who wants to pitch in for a better Springfield can call Springfield on the Move at 885-1527 or Alan Woodbury at 885-5284 and be added to the organization’s call list of helpers.
