Carol Swain, professor of political science at Vanderbilt University, attempts to dispel the notion that the Republican Party has been the racist entity in Washington, D.C.’s, two-party system.

  1. Interesting, but I don't think that the current president is a republican.

No, but the majority of the GOP considers him, as does the Russian state security apparatus, a useful idiot.

"You gotta dance with them that brung you." Swain's connection with institutions that are probably funded by the Koch brothers (e.g., Veritas) indicates why she basically stops her history of the Democratic Party half a century ago. Patillo broadcasts on AM talk radio, which is inherently wingnut; he'd have to prove it's otherwise in his case. The money makes them just a couple more Stepin Fetchits brought out for the political amusement of the white folks. Contrast them with people who know the score, like Hank Aaron, Harry Belafonte or Oprah, and you have to feel sorry for them.

Great sense of humor, Phil in Lowgap! You really ought to be kinder to a man who's our President.
