State fines North Springfield slaughterhouse

Mercy for Animals, an animal protection group based in California, is calling for an investigation into Vermont Packinghouse for what it calls “unfair and deceptive business practices.” State regulators fined the slaughterhouse shortly after the state received letters from Mercy for Animals.

  1. This issue isn't about whether you eat meat or not. It is about being HUMANE in the treatment of the animals. Why wouldn't you want the animals to be killed humanely? And if you are the ones bringing your animals to be killed, wouldn't you want them treated respectfully to their end? I am glad to see this getting the amount of attention it has so that future animals will not suffer as much.

    1. This is a nothingburger of over-hyped abuses by people that want to destroy the business. Surely when you kill thousands of animals, unfortunately a few will not die as planned. How come the medical profession kills hundreds of thousands of people in this country every year by mistake, intentional abusive care of humans, toxic drugs and malpractice and the only ones that say anything are the lawyers? Try applying HUMANE treatments to humans first. I am having a big cowboy steak tonite to celebrate another cow's death that allows humans like me to survive. Thank you Missy Cow for your flesh so that I might survive. I can't wait.

    2. Such regulations are not intended to destroy businesses. They were enacted in response to practices by a few that made inhumane treatment routine. Those few made it worse for all. Unfortunately, generalized rules or regulations inevitably penalize some who are honest and miss some who are not.

  2. MFA is "California based", eh? California has been threatening to secede from the United States ever since HRC lost the election. I wish they would hurry up.
