Shortly before 12:30 a.m., police stopped Evan J. Cox, 23, of Springfield, as he drove north on Interstate 91. After learning Cox was in violation of his conditions of release, police took him into custody and conducted a search of his vehicle, which revealed 5.2 ounces of Ecstasy, half a gram of cocaine and $5,800 in cash, according to police. Cox was on conditions of release after his December arrest in Springfield on a felony charge of cocaine possession after police found him with 1.5 grams of crack cocaine and $7,300 in cash. Cox has previously been convicted of selling cocaine, aggravated domestic assault, unlawful restraint and fraud. Police charged Cox with Ecstasy possession, cocaine possession and violating his conditions of release. He is being held in Springfield prison on $50,000 bail. Police also charged Cox's passenger, Britney S. Parson, 20, of Cavendish, with Ecstasy and cocaine possession and released her with a citation to appear Tuesday in Brattleboro District Court. — Staff reports
