The Union Street Elementary School, above, and Elm Hill Elementary School in Springfield were recently renovated. Starting in 2008, Efficiency Vermont partnered with the Springfield School District on renovations and additions to the schools that were completed in 2010. The district upgraded the schools’ lighting, heating and cooling systems, windows, cafeteria equipment and insulation to meet nationally recognized standards for energy-efficient buildings, resulting in estimated savings of $46,000 from the three-year project.
