While on routine patrol Saturday night, Sgt. Thomas Williams of the Vermont State Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. The vehicle accelerated and began weaving onto both sides of the travel portion of the road way at excessive speeds failing to yield to lights and siren and forcing oncoming traffic off the road. The suspect vehicle then abruptly lost control at the intersection of Route 10 and Main Street in North Springfield and traveled into a wooded area where it overturned several times.
