Springfield couple accused in maple syrup scam
WCAX
Springfield, Vermont - August 2, 2011
A Springfield couple is accused of running a maple syrup scam.
Police say Jason and Kristi Raymond stole large amounts of bulk syrup in Vermont and then sold it to a company in Sullivan County, N.H. Police say not only was the syrup stolen, but the couple falsified receipts claiming to have more syrup than they actually did; scamming the company buying the syrup out of $13,000.
Police say it was all to pay for their drug habits.
And the beat goes on in Springfield.
ReplyDeleteDoes anything positive EVER happen in this town?
The new Movie Theatre, Renovation of the Fellows Building, The Saturday Community Market, IVEK's Solar Array, the Springfield Garden Club, The Springfield Community Players...
ReplyDeletere: "Does anything positive EVER happen in this town?"
ReplyDeleteVery seldom anymore. Mostly a venue for politicians to hold photo ops at taxpayer funded facilities that attract cockroaches.
If you two anonymous naysayers would move out, that would be more positives.
ReplyDeleteThe naysayers are simply realists. Springfield continues to slide into a socio-economic abyss, and the Pollyanna's out there "...CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"
ReplyDeleteWell, let me see....in the past six days two murderers have been arrested in Springfield; two residents have been arrested not only for stealing sap but scamming the buyer of the stolen sap; and there is a front page article in The Valley News today about a repeat Springfield sex offender receiving a maximum sentence.
ReplyDeleteAs has been pointed out, there are some attempts for change, but most of it IS with public money (ie The Ellis Block, The Fellows factory, even the IVEK solar project). No private money is being invested. Why? Because the risk is too great. And one of the reason the risk is too great is because of the never ending stream of events by many of Springfield's 'citizens" that would cause any normal person to question living here. That is the reality of the situation.
Look at the pic. There both fat and spupid. Thats not Springfields fault.
ReplyDeleteSpupid?
ReplyDeleteHow is the Fellow's project good? They did very little in environmental protection during the renovations. Where did all of the money go???
ReplyDeleteHow is the Ellis block project good? A housing authority owned, publicly funded, JOKE.
Is it not SAD that the movie theater has opened but not one housing unit is even close to completion? Where did all the money go?
I see one common bond, corrupt redevelopment groups working with corrupt politician's padding padding pockets and stealing your $$$.
WAKE UP, stealing maple syrup, although unfortunate, is HARDLY NEWS WORTHY compared to the TRUE CRIMES of white and gold collar good old boys
