Grave robbers hit local cemetaries

If anyone has any information regarding these thefts, please contact Cpl. Morancy at the Springfield Police Department at 802-885-2112.

On 02/09/12 a complaint was received in reference to theft of items from the Pine Grove Cemetery located in North Springfield. Upon investigation it was found that someone had removed numerous rods, either brass or copper, that are part of the military grave markers indicating prior service.

Upon further investigation by police, it was found that possibly the same person or persons removed the same items from the graves located in the Oakland Cemetery on River Street and the Cemetery on Summer Hill in Springfield.

  2. It's about time the State did something about the Scrap dealers receiving this kind of materials, along with the Bronze Plaques from
    historic markers.

State ?? The good paying scrap yards are in N.H. and Ma.

You need Ma Vt and NH + + interstate police

time for the Springfield P.D. to go over to Advanced Recycing / schnitzer N.E. or Claremont N.H. and open an account.

what you'll find is that the Scrap yards are all crooks and criminals too.

They lie to everyday folk and take their money.

They are INSIDERS to all of the stolen metals.

And, THEY DO KNOW when someone is bringing stolen property. The probem is they get paid on it too.

  3. These should be easy to solve crimes. No recycler would touch this stuff. Trying to melt bronze in a crucible to create ingots, far exceeds its value on a small scale. It's totally worthless on the street.

These were absolute unconscionable idiots to rob from loving families and the surviving veterans that honor our heroes. When caught, there will be no shortage of people looking to extract street justice, and no police agency would waste resources protecting them.

Scum that would stoop to this level of crime, would steal anything from anyone without remorse. Yet there are those that would raise an appeal for Restorative Justice. How does that set with you?

you cut it up and throw it in a bucket of the same kind of metal. That's it.

  4. There's only one place for these offenders - a permanent "residence" alongside those whose graves they've vandalized.
