MOUNT HOLLY -- Assaulting a state trooper and resisting arrest while getting a traffic ticket has landed a Springfield woman behind bars, Vermont State Police said Sunday.
Daniella Guica, 23, became upset as she was issued a traffic ticket for $243 and five points against her license, Trooper Christopher Loyzelle said.
If convicted, Guica faces up to one year in jail for both charges -- assault and resisting. She was jailed at the Marble Valley Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail. She is due for arraignment Tuesday in Vermont Superior Court in Rutland, police said.
A state trooper had made a motor vehicle stop Saturday evening, but was almost hit by a vehicle when the driver failed to swing wide of the cars, police said.
Loyzelle stopped Guica a few minutes later on Vermont 103 at Belmont Road, but while issuing a ticket the driver became combative and struck Loyzelle through the open driver's side window, Sgt. Chris Barber said.
Guica was asked to step from her vehicle and once outside hit and kicked the trooper, Barber said. While attempting to take Guica into custody she bit the trooper on the left arm, police said.
Wow. This shocks me. She is normally so quiet and kinda shy. Never once seen a violent side to her. Guess the saying is true, "can know someone for years, but not know them."
