SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Vermont State police say two men are facing charges for their roles in a shooting in Springfield that injured three.
Police say 26-year-old Leon Jiggetts, of Newark, N.J. is due in court in White River Junction on today to answer charges of attempted second degree murder and burglary. He's being held on $250,000 bail.
In 2011, a judge in Essex County sentenced Jiggetts to three years in prison on a variety of drug charges, corrections records indicate
The second suspect, 33-year-old Jabbar Chandler, of Charlestown, N.H., surrendered to authorities in his home state where he is being held as a fugitive. He is also facing charges in Vermont.
It's not clear if they have lawyers.
More charges are possible.
Police say 29-year-old Joseph Atkinson, of Springfield, is being treated for a gunshot wound to the torso. Two others received minor injuries.
Police have not said what led to the Wednesday shooting.
The Associated Press and Star-Ledger staff writer Jeff Goldman contributed to this report.
