I-91 crash sends driver to hospital Staff Report | July 16,2014 Email Article Print Article SPRINGFIELD - A Hardwick man was injured this morning when the tractor trailer he was driving crashed veered off the road and into a ledge on Interstate 91. Richard Martin, 50, was taken by ambulance to Springfield hospital for what Vermont State Police said was a hip injury. He was wearing his seat belt. Martin was driving a 2014 Kenworth tractor trailer which was towing two trailers in the northbound lane of the divided highway when the truck swerved off the road. The truck traveled part way up the ledge then rolled onto its side. The travel lane of the highway is closed and the truck removal and fuel cleanup at the site is expected to last throughtout the day. The crash is under investigation, police say. Vermont state police say a tractor-trailer crash has slowed traffic on I-91 northbound. They say the driver crashed into a ledge and is in stable condition. The interstate was closed down to one lane by mile marker 40.5.
