New exhibit at The Art on the River Gallery in Springfield Aug 20, 2014 Share on facebook Share on print Share on twitter Share on email More Sharing Services 0 SPRINGFIELD — The Art on the River Gallery at One Hundred River Street in Springfield, announces a new art show called “The Open Hall: Springfield, Real and Imagined," on display Tuesday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Oct. 31. The opening artist reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5. According to the organizers, it is this exhibit is a “community showcase of paintings inspired by our town.” Artists of all levels were invited to be part of this celebration of Springfield and its geographic area as a dramatic and inspiring location for artists to capture the many facets of natural beauty and daily living in Vermont. The hallway gallery show will showcase several media, both representational and abstract. Views of Springfield will include Plein air paintings as well as studio works. Some of the works will show the results of a recent “paint-out” at the Mooreland Farms, sponsored by the Vermont Watercolor Society. The gallery is adjacent to the Great Hall Public Art Showcase in the redeveloped old Fellows Gear Shaper factory with the primary entrance off Pearl Street in Springfield. Art on the River Gallery is made available to the public for the enjoyment of art through the Springfield Regional Development Corporation.
