A tearful Natausha Bourquin, 23, left, of Springfield, takes a tissue from her defense attorney, Jordana Levine, during her sentencing hearing in White River Junction criminal court. Photo: PHOTO BY ERIC FRANCISPublished August 23, 2014 in the Rutland Herald Woman gets 3 months for drug sale By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A Springfield woman accused of selling five Oxycontin pills to a police informant a year ago finalized a plea deal this week. Natausha Bourquin, 23, was one of three dozen suspected drug dealers arrested during a sweep in Springfield and Ludlow in June 2013. In May she pleaded guilty to a felony count of selling narcotics, in exchange for other charges being dropped. The plan to place her under home confinement fell through when she was charged with violating her release conditions in June by being out after curfew. The new agreement calls for Bourquin to begin serving three months at the women’s jail in South Burlington next month. The rest of her 18-to-36-month sentence is suspended on probation. “It’s obviously a significant felony,” defense attorney Jordana Levine told Judge Harold Eaton in White River Junction criminal court. “There is time (to be) served and Ms. Bourquin is a young woman who has a daughter, but she also does have support from her parents. She is working hard to separate herself from a very corrosive element in the community.” Eaton asked Bourquin about her 5-year-old daughter: “What do you hope that she will get out of her life?” “(I’d like her) to grow up and not do the stupid stuff that I’ve done,” Bourquin replied. “And I suspect that you hope she doesn’t meet some drug dealer who sells her drugs so she ODs and kills herself,” the judge said. “You don’t want that to happen?” As Bourquin began to cry and her lawyer handed her a box of tissues, Eaton continued, “You’re going to have to someday explain to her why you’re a convicted drug dealer.” Bourquin nodded. “You’re still a young woman and it’s time to get out from this element that is just going to use you up and throw you away, do you understand that?” Eaton said. “I’m sure you have a lot to offer, Ms. Bourquin. I’d like to see you live out a good life and not spend it in jail, so don’t give us that opportunity.”
Took a different judge to see some jail.time. Awesome job Eaton!!!!
ReplyDeleteLest we forget, she still has felony gun charges against her in New Jersey...
ReplyDeleteWell done judge eaton. Karen carroll take note this is what's supposed to happen to this drug dealing/taking trash. Keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteNatausha Bourquin IS the, "very corrosive element in the community."
ReplyDeleteShe belongs behind bars and shunned by the entire community as the narcotics dealing, thug lover she chose to be.
Relax.
DeleteAfter her release she shouldn't be allowed back in Springfield, she should also loose parental custody of the child. We as tax paying citizens, DO NOT WANT HER BACK IN SPRINGFIELD, YOU KIND IS NOT WELCOME HERE!
ReplyDeleteYay! Roll out the NOT WELCOME mats! Us tax paying citizens shouldn't be subject to the kind of scary problems the rest of the world has had to deal with since the beginning of recorded history! We should build a wall or dig a moat around the town to keep these good-for-nothings out. Or better yet, let's create some kind of giant glass dome that provides us safety while at the same time prevents us from having to address or solve any problem that may or may not reflect upon the society we are a part of and create. Or maybe we could just eat all drug dealers?! YAY! Wooo! Anon 2:02 these are some good ideas. You got my vote!
DeleteWhere is it written that we, the tax paying citizens of Springfield have to accept the convicts released from prison. We don't want you, we don't need you Natausha
DeleteI'll bet anything that Boss Hog is the author of the 11:01 screed. It's got the first-class snark we've come to expect.
DeleteSystem takes to long, what does "In due process" really mean ?
ReplyDeleteMessage to the last two posters....LEARN HOW TO SPELL!!!!

DeleteKeep your coments on track wtih teh articall .
DeleteThe SPD did this about 10 years ago when Emerson was being released from prison. They alerted the public and a drive was pushed to keep him out of Springfield. He moved to Alabama and reportedly raped an elderly woman. Doug Johnson, let's use this again to keep her and the rest of her drug dealing loser thugs out of Springfield. You can do it! Yes you can! The tax paying public is tired of the near-do-wells that suck the system dry, coming to OUR TOWN and living off the working tax paying
ReplyDeleteAlso having places like Turning Point here makes Springfield a desirable post prison home for these cons. Let's make some State Laws for people moving into Vermont, to have a job before you can get assisted living, food ramps and the other freebies associated with welfare. And if you do get these, you must pass a monthly drug test. Just think of the jobs being created there. Shumlin get on the ball! It is my hard earned tax dollars you are giving away, and killing the middle class!
DeleteYeah! Yes We Can! Screw due process, maybe we should just round these people up and drive them to Alabama, let Alabama get raped and not us. That would be a much better use of our time, energy, and resources then fixing the underlining problems of addiction and crime. (And what about Anon 11:01's suggestion about eating the drug dealers? We shouldn't take that off the table.) Oh Alabama, you are in for a surprise!
