Springfield, Vt. — The Friends of the Springfield Town Library’s annual meeting on April 1 will feature historic musical humor.
The business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at about 7 p.m. The free events will take place at the library on Main Street.
Adam Boyce will portray Charles Ross Taggart, a traveling entertainer who grew up in Vermont. The “Old Country Fiddler” made his debut in 1895, and for the next four decades performed in lyceum and Chautauqua circuits across North America, the library said in a recent news release.
The musical humorist made at least 40 recordings with the Victor, Edison and Columbia Companies and appeared in a 1923 “talkie.”
For more information, call the library at 802-885-3108.
