Arrest warrant requested for Springfield woman By SAMANTHA TIGHE | May 22, 2015 SPRINGFIELD — Authorities are on the lookout for a Springfield woman accused of scamming neighbors out of hundreds of dollars. Holly Aldrich, 48, was charged in March with three misdemeanor charges of false pretenses after people in and around Chester complained to their local police departments about loaning Aldrich money and not receiving repayment. Aldrich would approach acquaintances and invoke familiarity by saying she went to school with their family or attended their church. She would then request money, upwards of $150, in order to retrieve a $10,000 certificate of deposit [CD] from the bank that her late husband had left her. Though Judge Karen R. Carroll had ordered Aldrich to cease these practices in March, police say they have evidence that Aldrich had continued her behavior as recently as May 4. Six cases have been opened against Aldrich and authorities have requested an arrest warrant. According to a statement from the Springfield Police Department, Aldrich is believed to be out of the area. Police say Aldrich had been asking for money as early as the fall of 2013. Though Aldrich had told court officials she was in the process of repaying the money she borrowed, in one instance, police say Aldrich had used a forged check. Though they had been receiving a steady stream of reports about Aldrich for months, police said they were unable to act because the repayment agreements had been made verbally. There were some instances when loaners had Aldrich sign statements of acknowledgment. Photocopies of her identification, such as her passport and her license, had also been taken. In February, Aldrich was cited for some of her scams. "I advised [Aldrich] that at this point she was only cited," wrote Matthew Wilson, a detective at the Chester Police Department, in an affidavit. "However if she continued these frauds after our conversation that she would be arrested again and lodged for a continuation of crimes."
