Mobus, 51, said his decision to leave the town office was a private one, describing himself as a “very private person.” In his letter to Town Manager Tom Yennerell, Mobus thanked Yennerell for his support and said it was a difficult decision to make. “Please accept this letter as my formal resignation as comptroller and personnel director for the Town of Springfield, to take effect September 7, 2015. As we discussed, I am willing to do whatever I can to facilitate the transition to my successor. “This has been a very difficult decision for me, and I especially appreciate the time you’ve spent with me as I worked my way through the process. I have enjoyed a very fulfilling 14 years with the town, but I feel that this is the right time for me and my family to make this change,” Mobus wrote. Yennerell said Friday that Mobus was leaving the town for a similar position with Health Care and Rehabilitative Services in Springfield, as the mental health agency’s financial controller. Yennerell said that he tried to talk Mobus out of leaving, but that he wasn’t successful. “He was very forthright about it,” said Yennerell. “I knew he was having serious discussion with his new employer. He told me. I tried to persuade him to stay.” “He did a good job,” said Yennerell, who is in his first year as town manager. Mobus, who moved to Springfield when he was one year old, returned to his hometown 14 years ago from living and working in Rome, Italy, where he was director of the University of Dallas’ on-site program. He and his family had lived in Italy for 9½ years. Mobus was a graduate of the University of Dallas, where he had studied mathematics and economics. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1982. He is married and the father of four children. Mobus on Friday said he had left Rome because he wanted to return to his hometown. Yennerell said that Mobus gave him his notice last week, and that he was already advertising for his replacement. “We have ads out on various web sites and we’re looking for more web sites to put the ad on and we’re getting prices for print ads as well,” he said. “We are doing a really active campaign and search.” One change Yennerell is instituting is a name change. The job will be called finance director, and it will also include some personnel director responsibilities, as Mobus had. While comptroller is technically the correct term for the job, Yennerell said, it’s an old-fashioned term and people often don’t understand the title. The job will pay between $65,000 and $78,000, he said, depending on the person’s experience and expertise. He said that Mobus was at the “high end” of the pay scale with his seniority. “Some of the more heavy-duty HR things, I’ll be doing,” Yennerell said.
From one taxpayer funded job to another. Excellent!

DeleteThe well ran dry so he is on to now set up his retirement at HCRS. Not much to say about his tenure since the towns taxes doubled under his guidance. Then there is that messy issue with the tax appraisals for the town that went bad!
