State awards $2.8 million in enhancement grants

Gov. James Douglas announced Wednesday that 21 towns would receive a total of $2.8 million in community enhancement grants.
Springfield was awarded a $35,000 grant to explore the possibility of extending the Toonerville Trail, which currently runs from Clinton Street to the Connecticut River, up to Bridge Street, said Town Manager Bob Forguites.
