Bond increases budget 10 percent

Like other area school districts, Springfield is facing a tough budget season punctuated by reduced state revenues and the downturn in the economy. What sets Springfield apart is ongoing construction work at two of its elementary schools, and the first payment on the $32.8 million bond for the project that comes due next year.
