A fight ensued in the partially open doorway and eventually the assailant fled back outside, still in possession of the gun, police said Tuesday evening. • At least a couple of the men were believed to have fled on foot towards the large machine shop buildings on Clinton Street and witnesses also reported seeing a woman in a blue car leave the scene with three passengers. • A camera on the outside of the police department actually served to corroborate the story, catching a fleeting image of a man running by the gas station next door right after the attack was called in to 911 at 4:50 p.m. • Local and state police units swarmed the area following the report of a gun being involved and police said late Tuesday that they had recovered articles that were believed to be evidence from the Olive Street scene. • Police said the victim, who was not immediately identified, was able to give descriptions of several of those involved and told police that he did not recognize any of the individuals. •
