Opinion: Throw them all out

Years past, there has been a sort of lazy awareness as to the state of our union come voting time – but not anymore. Our Congress has really woken up a sleeping giant. • I encourage every voter to vote against every incumbent running. It doesn't matter what your party affiliation is – vote – but vote in new blood. • Don't worry about their livelihood after they are out. They have padded themselves so generously in the event there is a political afterlife that they will remain in "fat city" for the rest of their days. Their pompous pride may be a little damaged, but their entitlements will take most of the sting out of that. • We have all come to realize that they have broken the U.S. post office, Social Security, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Medicare and Medicaid, to mention a few. What makes you think health care is going to be any different? • Collectively, for a very long time now, Congress can't seem to see beyond their own hind pockets and their quest for re-election. • Don't worry about the lack of "experience." We have a president with a lack of "experience." With one exception – public speaking. He could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. And that is just about the financial mentality Washington has. • With a whole new inexperienced lot from the top down and a new sincere dedication, we might just be surprised how well things might start to turn around in time. • If we keep the same old-same old, all we will see for the future is the same old-same old. • LARRY PEPIN • Springfield •
