Two brothers from South Carolina are in town gathering input from local citizens to inventory community assets, sources of pride and unique qualities of Springfield to help us understand "who" we are today and create a community brand that suits us and is inviting to outsiders.
Springfield On The Move and the Chamber of Commerce recently teamed together to form the Community Identity Committee with members Larry Kraft, Mark Blanchard, Carol Lighthall, Steve Plunkard and Patty Chaffee. Tripp and Ben Muldrow of Arnett Muldrow Associates, an urban planning and marketing firm based in Greenville, South Carolina, are conducting a two day study of how best to bestow Springfield with a more distinct self identity, for the purpose of attracting more visitors, residents and businesses to town.
After two days of leading round table focus groups with a number of community leaders and interested citizens, the brothers will conduct a one hour presentation of what they've come up with at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9 in the Nolan Murray Center located at 40 Summer Street. The public is welcome to attend.
