A 200 kilowatt photovoltaic panel array large enough to cover 2 acres of land is now in place at IVEK Corporation.
The project is a “grid-tied” system consisting of 936 ground-mounted photovoltaic panels arranged in 9 rows of l04 panels. The panels will be attached to two inverters that will transmit power to the Central Vermont Public Service Corporation distribution system.
Each panel has the capacity to produce 224 watts of power. The array design will have an estimated annual production of 239,500 kilowatthours - this would be enough energy to supply approximately 32 of the homes in the neighborhood.
Prudent Living Incorporated of Windsor, Vermont and their partner Renewable Energy Systems & Technology of Bridgewater, Vermont did the engineering and installation of this project.
The system should be in full operation by Christmas.
