Schools Say They Won’t Meet Challenges Goal

Wednesday is the deadline for school districts to report on whether they can make the budget-cutting targets set by Vermont's Challenges for Change law. Principal Susan Whittemore points with pride - and frustration -- to the improvements at Elm Hill School in Springfield.

  1. Dear Ms. Whittemore,

Last year I penned a letter to every member of the Vermont House of Reps and State Senate. In this letter I explained that, in the not-so-distant future, we are going to need to embark upon conversion projects in our towns---projects aimed at converting our public schools into 24-7 facilities that can be used to house an increasing number of homeless.

I point you, and the citizens of Springfield, to the following video that I recently made, describing the conditions that will continue to place towns like yours in a precarious position.
