FEMA officials meet with Springfield

FEMA met with town officials from Windham in Windsor counties in Springfield Friday educating them about the available assistance, and discussing eligibility requirements.   Other upcoming briefing meetings...



FEMA holds Public Assistance Applicant Briefings: Tropical Storm Irene


The Vermont Agency of Transportation will be holding applicant briefings for communities in counties granted a Public Assistance disaster declaration following floods from Tropical Storm Irene. Attendance at this meeting is required to receive FEMA funding.

Representatives from Vermont communities in counties affected by Tropical Storm Irene are invited to meetings to learn how to apply for federal reimbursement for flood response and recovery costs for eligible public infrastructure such as debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair, replacement, or restoration of disaster-damaged, publicly owned facilities and the facilities of certain Private Non-Profit (PNP) organizations. Applicant may attend the briefing meeting closest to their location.

Friday, September 9, 2011: Rutland and Bennington Counties at Manchester Town Public Safety Facility Meeting Room, 6041 Main Street (VT Route 7A), Manchester Center, VT. Friday, September 9, 2011: Windham and Windsor Counties at Riverside Middle School Gymnasium, 13 Fairgrounds Road Springfield, VT. Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. A FEMA applicants’ Kick Off meeting will follow. Contact Windham or Southern Windsor Regional Planning Commissions with questions (802-257-4547 or 802-674-9201).

Saturday, September 10, 2011: Washington and Orange Counties at Judd Hall of Vermont Technical College in Randolph, VT. Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. A FEMA applicants’ Kick Off meeting will follow. Contact Central Vermont or Two Rivers Ottauquechee Regional Planning Commissions with questions (802-229-0389 or 802-457-3188).

Saturday, September 10, 2011: Addison and Chittenden Counties at the American Legion at 100 Amory Lane in Vergennes, VT. Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. A FEMA applicants’ Kick Off meeting will follow. Contact Addison or Chittenden County Regional Planning Commissions with questions (802-388-3141 or 802-846-4490).

Monday, September 12, 2011: Franklin and Lamoille Counties at Green Mountain Technology & Career Center, 738 Route 15W, Hyde Park, VT. Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. A FEMA applicants’ Kick Off meeting will follow. Applicants traveling through Johnson should expect delays in the Village of Johnson due to road construction and plan accordingly. Contact Northwest or Lamoille County Regional Planning Commissions with questions (802-524-5958 or 802-888-4548).

Monday, September 12, 2011: Orleans, Essex and Caledonia Counties at Town of Lyndon’s Public Safety Building (Fire Department), 316 Main Street Lyndonville, VT. Briefing will begin at 10 a.m. A FEMA applicants’ Kick Off meeting will follow. Contact Northeastern Vermont Development Association with questions (802-748-5181).

Cities and towns with questions should contact their Regional Planning Commission.
