5th Birthday Party! December 31, 2011

The Edgar May Health and Recreation Center will be celebrating its 5th Birthday on December 31, 2011. Join us for a FREE Day of events, programs, and give aways. All area residents are invited to come in and try THEIR community health and recreation center. The Edgar May will be open for FREE use from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate this special day.

New Year's Eve Kids Night Out

Start the New Year enjoying a special night out while your kids have fun at the Edgar May!

Back for its second year the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center will once again offer its New Year's Eve Kids Night Out on December 31st. This is a great event for kids and/or families looking for a fun and different way to spend New Year's Eve. The Kids Night Out will be led by aquatics director Scott Bushway and Children's Activity Room leader Andrea Connors along with other EdgarMay Staff.

Parents can enjoy a night out or quiet time at home while kids can play away the new year at the EdgarMay between 6:00 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. OR the whole family can join in for a night of swimming, games, movies, arts and crafts, board games, pizza and more.

Open to anyone age 3 and UP!

Cost for members: $5 per child; $15 per family
Cost for Non-members: $10 per child; $30 family

Register by December 29th; space is limited so sign up early. Payment is due at the time of registration.

2012 New Year's Day Fun Run
New Year's Day 5K Fun Run and Walk


The Edgar May Health and Recreation Center will host its annual NEW YEAR’S DAY FUN RUN AND WALK on January 1st at 11:00 am. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. Race day registration begins at 10:00 am, with the race starting at 11:00 am.

The first 100 adults to register will receive an EMHRC Fun Run and Walk T-shirt and all youth that register will receive a free prize.

The 5K Fun Run and Walk will begin and end at the Recreation Center, located on Clinton Street in Springfield. The route begins on Bridge Street and loops around to Wall Street and Summer Street before continuing back down Bridge Street to the finish line. There will be a reception after the race in the historic Foundry Building on the Recreation Center property. There were 84 participants last year with more than 100 expected this year
