SPRINGFIELD — A tractor trailer overturned on the Exit 7 northbound ramp, spilling milk on the highway and sending the driver to the local hospital on Thursday.
Vermont State Police and Springfield Fire and Rescue responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. The operator, Thomas Pullman, 32, of Cohoes, N.Y., was treated for minor injuries at Springfield Hospital.
The Interstate 91 northbound entrance was closed to all traffic as the Springfield Fire Department washed away truck debris and spoiled milk. Northbound traffic was not inhibited but the I-91 northbound entrance was closed during the cleanup. The truck was removed from the highway hours later.
Officials at the scene were unsure how much milk was lost in the spill. Representatives from the Garelick Farms Distribution Center in New York declined to comment and calls to State Police and Springfield Hospital were not returned.
