H&R Block of Springfield presents a $1000 check to the Springfield Community Players. Present at an open house held by H&R Block from left: unidentified guest, Ira Emerson, Jr. (president of the Players), Jennifer Targett (co-owner of H&R Block of Springfield), Sam Simonds (Springfield Manager of H&R Block).
SPRINGFIELD, VT -Through the generosity of area businesses, air conditioning will be installed in time for the Springfield Community Players’ summer season of comedy, drama, and music.
Ceiling fans have done their best to keep audiences in the Players’ Studio cool during hot summer nights. But patrons hoping for more comfort have responded enthusiastically to 50-50 drawings to raise money toward air conditioning.
Now a grant of $1,000 from H&R Block of Springfield, plus annual sponsorships by local businesses, completes funding for a major improvement this summer.
The Players thank Tim and Jennifer Targett, owners of the local H&R Block, and also H B Plumbing and Heating, Springfield Housing Authority, Bibens Home Center, One Credit Union, Connecticut River Bank, Cota & Cota, Inc., Springfield Animal Hospital, Davis Memorial Chapel, and Springfield Moose Lodge 679.
Audiences can look forward to “The Southwest Corner,” a Vermont drama, on May 25 - 26 and June 1 - 2. Further performances will be “Circle Mirror Transformation, a play by a Vermont playwright, on July 6 -7 and 13 - 14; “The Fox on the Fairway,” a rousing comedy about golf; and “Nunsense Boulevard,” another zany Nunsense musical on October 26- 28 and November 2 - 3.
