Springfield Moose Lodge to hold veterans dinner Annual event Saturday at 4 p.m. SPRINGFIELD, Vt. - An annual Memorial Day tradition kicks off once again at the Moose Lodge on Saturday night. The event is hosted by members of VFW Post 77, American Legion Post 67, Moose Lodge 679, The Women of the Moose and Elks Lodge 1560. An independent committee raises money for the event. Food, linens and other items are donated by various businesses in the Upper Valley. Fourth and fifth graders from Union Elementary School in Springfield made centerpieces for the dinner. Every year provides an opportunity to give back to the nation’s veterans, the event’s organizer said. “It makes me feel wonderful that we can recognize all that they've given for our country,” said Linda Clickner. “They have an opportunity to just sit down and share a few moments with other veterans and enjoy the afternoon -- on a weekend dedicated to them.” The dinner is free and starts at 4 p.m. About 55 veterans and 55 of their guests can attend.
