Recent activity of the Springfield Police Department.



DATE/TIME OF ARREST: June 27, 2012 @ 1738hrs

VIOLATION: Sexual Assault

DEFENDANT : Juvenile Male

AGE: 17

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Springfield, Vermont

VICTIM : Juvenile Female

AGE: 16

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Springfield, Vermont

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: The male subject allegedly engaged in a nonconsensual sexual act with the female victim. This was reported to the Springfield Police Department shortly after the incident occurred. The male was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000.00 bail. The male was cited and has since appeared at Vermont Superior Court Windsor Circuit, Criminal Division on June 28, 2012.




DATE/TIME OF ARREST: 7-1-2012 @ 1600Hrs

VIOLATION: Driving while criminally suspended

DEFENDANT: Frederick Reed
AGE: 64
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Windsor ,Vermont

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Springfield Police were asked to respond to the area of McDonalds on River Street for,a report of a vehicle that had hit a bicyclist. On arrival it was determined that the bicyclist sustained minor injuries and was able to leave the scene under his own power. The operator was identified as Frederick Reed of Windsor Vermont. Reed was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a criminally suspended license.




DATE/TIME OF ARREST: 6-30-2012 @ 2230hours

OFFENSE: Driving while criminally suspended

DEFENDANT: Shawn Gilman
AGE: 40
TOWN OF RESIDENCE: Springfield VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Springfield Police were asked to respond for a reported hit and run in front of Jasinski's Market. Witnesses gave a vehicle description and plate number to responding officers. Officers then responded to Shawn Gilman's residence and issued him a citation for criminal DLS.




DATE/TIME OF ARREST: 06-29-12 03:10 a.m.

OFFENSES:
1) Burglary of Residence
2) Resisting Arrest
3) Minor Consuming Alcohol

DEFENDANT: Brent Booker Jr.
AGE: 19
TOWN OF RESIDENCE: Springfield, VT

VICTIM: Daniel Keebler
AGE: 61
TOWN OF RESIDENCE: Springfield, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Officers were dispatched to Wall Street for the report of a flashlight being visible inside a house which the owner was away on vacation. Upon arrival officers found forced entry and deployed K9 Ozzy who located Brent, who does not live at the residence, hiding in an upstairs closet. Brent was also found to have been consuming alcohol and resisted officers attempts to take him into custody.

Booker was subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility-Springfield in lieu of $2,500.00 cash/surety bail.




VIOLATION: Disorderly Conduct

DEFENDANT: Sharma Bethel
AGE: 26
CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: North Springfield, Vermont

VICTIM : Multiple

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Threatened victim in a loud and profane manner in a public place.




DATE & TIME: 06/11/12 2000hrs

OFFENSE: DRIVING WHILE CRIMINALLY SUSPENDED

DEFENDANT: Thomas Daniels
AGE: 39
TOWN OF RESIDENCE: Proctorsville, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: Daniels was witnessed operating a motor vehicle on June 6, 2012 hours, by an off duty officer. The officer addressed a driving violation with Daniels, and later realized he was criminally suspended. Daniels was recontacted on June 11, 2012 and cited into court.
